Arriving at Mansfield

The London to Mansfield train arrives less than ten minutes away from the town centre. Mansfield station is located on Station Road in a Grade II-listed building. Cabs pick up passengers outside the station from the north and northeast entrance (via Station Street and Quaker Way). A five-minute walk via the skybridge takes you to the bus station.

All services from Mansfield station are operated by East Midlands Railway, travelling to Worksop, Sutton Parkway, Creswell and other stations on the Robin Hood Line. While you’re in town, visit the cultural venues like the Mansfield Museum, explore the independent shops or try the local brew, Mansfield Bitter. A trip to the town wouldn’t be complete without exploring Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood.

• Standard Class: Free Wi-Fi and power sockets are available on certain East Midlands Railway (EMR) Standard Class carriages. You’ll either have a table or a tray table in front of your seat.
• First Class: Trains from Nottingham to Mansfield have no First Class accommodation, so London to Mansfield First Class tickets only cover the first leg of the journey to Nottingham. First Class offers spacious seating with individual tables and plug sockets in quieter carriages. Light refreshments are also served on weekdays. A “First plus parking” ticket provides return travel and three days’ parking at selected stations.

East Midlands Railway train travel advice

• Luggage: You are allowed to bring up to two items of luggage: one larger bag with maximum dimensions of 90x70x30 cm, plus one smaller bag or cabin-sized case.
• Bicycles: Bikes and e-bikes must stay in the vestibule area and cannot be left unattended at any point during the journey. You can’t book a space on the travel date, so pre-booking is recommended. Full-size bikes aren’t permitted on trains arriving in London before 10:00 or departing from 16:00 to 19:00 Monday–Friday. E-scooters aren’t allowed.
• Children: Travel is free for under-5s and half price for 5–15-year-olds. Up to four adults and four children can get one-third and 60% off tickets respectively with the Family and Friends Railcard. 16–17 Saver Railcard holders save 50% on tickets.
• Pets: You can bring up to two pets with you. They must be kept in a carrier or on a lead and cannot sit on seats.
