Fire cause major disruption between Huddersfield / Rochdale and Manchester Victoria

Related Information:There was a fire in Standedge Tunnel on Sunday 25 January. Once the fire had been extinguished, damage to the tunnel structure was discovered that requires extensive repair work before the tunnel can be deemed safe for the passage of trains again. As a result of this, some lines in the area are currently closed. Trains running between Huddersfield and Manchester Victoria are the most heavily impacted by this issue and will either be cancelled, delayed, revised or diverted via an alternative route, where this is possible. Northern services between Leeds and Manchester Victoria via Rochdale will be cancelled to allow trains to use this diversionary route. For the remainder of the day today, both Northern and TransPennine Express services will be impacted by this issue. However, from the start of service tomorrow, Northern expect to be able to run their full timetable. TransPennine Express services are expected to continue to be impacted through until at least Thursday of this week. Major disruption is expected to continue until 06:00 on Thursday 29 January. Advice for Northern customers: Alternative travel suggestions: Services running between Leeds and Manchester Victoria will be cancelled in both directions. However, other routes (as listed below) that run via Rochdale can continue to run as normal: Between Leeds and Chester via Halifax and Manchester Victoria. Between Leeds and Wigan Wallgate via Brighouse and Manchester Victoria. Customers can change at Brighouse for a replacement bus service to Huddersfield, in both directions. Northern ticket holders will be accepted on TransPennine Express services between Manchester Victoria and Leeds at no extra cost. Some of these TransPennine Express services will stop additionally at Hebden Bridge and Rochdale, in both directions. If the train you have a ticket for is cancelled, you can travel on any Northern, TransPennine Express and East Midlands Railway service within two hours before or after your cancelled service was due to depart. Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including advance and peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends. Advice for TransPennine Express customers: How does this affect my journey? The following routes will be subject to delays, alterations, short notice cancellations: Manchester Piccadilly - Huddersfield / York (stopper services). Manchester Victoria - Redcar Central. Liverpool Lime Street - Newcastle. Liverpool Lime Street - Hull. Where possible, trains will divert via the Calder Valley. Trains that divert between Leeds and Manchester Victoria will not call at Huddersfield, Slaithwaite, Marsden, Greenfield. Mossley or Stalybridge. The Manchester Airport to Redcar Central services will call additionally at Brighouse, in both directions. From Brighouse, connections can be made to Huddersfield via Rail Replacement Bus services. What should I do? You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following services in both directions: Northern services between Sheffield and Leeds / Huddersfield, Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge. CrossCountry services between Leeds and Sheffield until the end of the day. TransPennine Express and East Midlands Railway services between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly / Liverpool Lime Street. LNER services between York and Doncaster until the end of the day. Metrolink services between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria / Manchester Airport. Customers travelling to and from Huddersfield, please travel via Brighouse where replacement bus services are in operation between Brighouse and Huddersfield, in both directions. The following rail replacement transport is in operation: Between Dewsbury and Huddersfield: Dewsbury to Huddersfield departing at XX:15 every hour from 05:15 until 23:15. Huddersfield to Dewsbury departing at XX:45 every hour from 05:45 until 22:45. Between Huddersfield and Stalybridge / Manchester Piccadilly: Stalybridge to Huddersfield calling at all stops, departing on the hour each hour from 05:00 until 23:00. Huddersfield to Manchester Piccadilly calling at all stops, departing on the hour each hour from 05:00 until 23:00. Please be advised other operators are likely to be busy and customers may experience overcrowding on services.

Track flooding and bridge damage disrupts routes between Liskeard and Looe

Related Information:The line between Liskeard and Looe remains closed following a period of recent heavy rain which flooded the track. The heavy rainfall, combined with high tides, resulted in the water levels at several bridges along the line being above the level which allows for trains to run safely. Investigations took place once the water levels receded and the results of the investigations have confirmed some damage that will require repair work. This will need to be carried out before the line can be reopened and trains are able to run again. No trains will operate between Liskeard and Looe. Rail replacement transport will run as stated below. Currently, trains are not expected to run on this route until the start of service on Monday 2 February, at the earliest. Customer advice: Replacement minibuses will operate at train departure times from Liskeard and Looe. The designated stops for the replacement road transport are as follows: Liskeard - at the front of the station. Sandplace - bus stops by the station entrance. Looe - at the front of the station. If you are travelling to / from St Keyne Wishing Well Halt or Causeland please call Great Western Railway customer services on 0345 700 0125, or use the station help point for taxis to be arranged. Poor weather impacts services across the Great Western Railway network

Related Information:The Met Office have issued yellow weather warnings in place for ice across England and Wales throughout the day. As a result, trains running across the Great Western Railway network may be cancelled, delayed, revised or suspended. Disruption to services is expected to continue until the end of the day on Friday 30 January. Customer advice: If you are travelling between Exeter St Davids and Okehampton / Barnstaple: You are advised NOT TO TRAVEL as Great Western Railway cannot guarantee they will get you to your destination due to the unsafe road conditions. Trains are currently unable to operate between these stations as a result of flooding following the poor weather. This is expected to be the case until the end of the day on Friday 30 January. An extremely limited rail replacement service will run between Exeter St Davids and Okehampton. Please speak to station staff on arrival. Your ticket can be used, at no extra cost, with Stagecoach, in both directions on routes as follows: 5 between Exeter (Central, New North Road), Newton St Cyres (Belluno) and Crediton (Station Cross). 5A between Exeter (bus station), Newton St Cyres (Belluno), Crediton (station), Copplestone and Okehampton. 5B between Exeter (bus station), Newton St Cyres (Belluno), Crediton (station), Copplestone, Morchard Road and Barnstaple (station). 5C between Exeter (bus station), Newton St Cyres (Belluno), Crediton (station), Copplestone, Morchard Road and Lapford. You can also use Dartline route 66 between Exeter (St David’s), Exeter St Thomas (Cowick St) and Okehampton (West Street). If you are travelling between Castle Cary and Exeter St Davids: Following flooding between Exeter St Davids and Taunton all lines have reopened. As service recovers, trains may still be cancelled or revised. Disruption is expected until 03:30. If you are travelling between Par and Newquay: Trains are currently unable to operate between these stations, and will be cancelled. This is expected to continue until the end of the day. Rail replacement buses will run between St Austell and Newquay. Please alight at St Austell and use a Great Western Railway service between Par and St Austell. Landslip disrupts services between Horsham and Dorking (Main)

Related Information:A landslip between Horsham and Dorking (Main) means that trains are unable to run between these stations. Buses will replace trains between these stations until Monday 16 February. Customer advice: A landslip between Horsham and Dorking will impact trains running between Horsham, Dorking and London Victoria until at least Monday 16 February. Until Monday 16 February: There will be NO train service between Horsham and Dorking. The following stations will not be served: Warnham. Ockley. Holmwood. An hourly train service will continue to run between Dorking and London Victoria, and there are alternative Southern and Thameslink services from Horsham to London Bridge and London Victoria, via Gatwick Airport. If you are travelling between Horsham and Dorking (Main): Please allow for at least 30-40 minutes longer than usual to complete your journey, as you will need to use alternative transport to reach your destination. An hourly replacement bus service will operate between Horsham, Warnham, Holmwood and Dorking, in both directions. This will connect with train services running between Dorking and London Victoria. However, if you are travelling from Horsham into Central London, please use the alternative Southern or Thameslink routes from Horsham. You can also use your ticket to travel at no extra cost on Metrobus route 93 between Horsham Bus Station, Warnham, Ockley (serving Clarks Green Roundabout), Holmwood and Dorking. If you are travelling to / from Ockley: Replacement buses running between Horsham and Dorking are unable to serve Ockley due to a road closure between the A24 and the station, until the end of service on Friday 30 January. If you are travelling from Ockley, please press the green emergency button on the station Help Point, and we will arrange onward travel for you. If you are travelling to Ockley, please speak to station staff who will assist in booking onward transport. Ockley will be served by rail replacement buses from Saturday 31 January. Car parking easement: If you have a car park season ticket for Ockley, you will be able to park at Horsham, Crawley, Reigate or Three Bridges if you choose to travel to / from these stations as an alternative (please note, these car parks can be busy). Can you tell me more about the incident? A landslip was reported in the Ockley area on Friday evening, 23 January. Since then, specialist Network Rail teams have been on site assessing the damage and repairs necessary and then starting work on the track and surrounding embankment. All lines through this route will be blocked until this work is complete. Watch this video to find out more. A full line closure is expected until Monday 16 February, between Horsham and Dorking (Main). Landslips can happen for a number of reasons, including severe weather. Areas at risk of landslips are monitored proactively to ensure that the track is safe, and Southern also receive reports from train crews of any risks to the railway.
