Further information:
At around 20:30 on the evening of Tuesday 5 May there was a low-speed freight train derailment in the Oxley area, north of Wolverhampton. One wagon of a freight train derailed, causing damage to the track and overhead power lines. There were no injuries, the derailed wagon remained upright, and no other trains were involved. The complexities of removing the derailed wagon - and making the significant repairs - means the line between Wolverhampton and Telford Central remains closed. We'll update this message when more information is known of when the line can be reopened, but the latest estimate is that this is not expected to happen before the afternoon.
