London Bridge train station

One of the oldest railway stations in the world, London Bridge station has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1836. It is one of the two mainline stations south of the River Thames and takes more than 50 million passengers in and out of the city each year.

Starting off in a simple building with two platforms, London Bridge has undergone immense developments to become the modern hub it is today. After a five-year rebuild, the station provides increased space for commuters and better entryways into the station. A reconfiguration of the track layout allowed for new platforms for Thameslink trains. There is now step-free access to all platforms, along with new retail and dining spaces and free WiFi.

London Bridge is open 04:00–01:00 from Monday to Saturday and 06:00–01:00 on Sunday. Passengers can buy train tickets from the ticket office on the lower concourse or from machines around the station.

Getting to and from London Bridge

Several modes of transport serve London Bridge station. It is on the Northern and Jubilee lines of the London Underground. Buses (including night routes) stop outside the upper concourse or at nearby bus stops.

A pick-up and drop-off on Railway Approach is available for cars, but there is no public car park. Taxi ranks are located in front of the station’s upper concourse and on Bermondsey Street. Cyclists can also park their bikes in front of the station.

Departing stations include those in central and south London and across South East England. Since 2018, Thameslink services from Cambridge, Bedford and Peterborough to stations in Kent and Sussex have been alighting at London Bridge.
