You can purchase these tickets at any time before your journey. If the route is marked as “Off-Peak,” you can buy the tickets on TrainPal. Remember to schedule your trip during super off-peak hours and note that your ticket is valid until 04:29 am the following day.

Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak train times

Off-Peak train tickets have varying times depending on the route and cities. Typically, they are valid from 09:00/09:30 to 16:00, and after 19:00 on weekdays (excluding bank holidays). Super Off-Peak train tickets are valid from 10:00 to 15:30, and after 19:15. Both types of tickets can be used all day on weekends and bank holidays.

These tickets remain valid until 04:29 the day after the travel date. For Off-Peak Return tickets, the return portion is valid until 04:29 the day after the final validity date.

In London, off-peak hours are from 09:31 to 15:59 and from 19:01 to 06:29 on weekdays (excluding public holidays), making travel more affordable and convenient.

  • Changes

    If you need to change your travel time or ticket class, you can pay the difference between your current ticket and the new ticket.

    1. In many cases, if your travel remains within the valid times for your ticket, no additional fare is required.
    2. If you need to change the travel date, or travel route, you may need to buy a new ticket and apply for a refund for the original one.
  • Refunds

    For Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak train tickets, if you decide not to use your ticket, you can request a refund on TrainPal within 28 days of its expiration. An admin fee of up to £5 may apply.
