About Lumo

Transport company FirstGroup launched a new London-Edinburgh service next month called Lumo. Lumo is a brand new, low-cost and eco-friendly service train service committed to using 100% electric high-speed trains as well as a menu that is, “…at least 50% plant-based to make our waste easier to recycle.” It is dedicated to travel on the UK's east coast between London and Edinburgh, with stops in Stevenage, Newcastle and Morpeth. We're helping to improve regional connectivity while providing an alternative to Newcastle and Luton airports. The operating company promises fares will be significantly lower than current fares on the line. It only has first-class seats, which means that there is no distinction between first-class seats and second-class seats. The operating company wants Lumo to carry more than 1 million passengers a year on the UK east coast line, sending out about 10 trains a day. In addition to being cheap, it also focuses on the concept of green and low-carbon travel - emphasizing that its electrified trains are more environmentally friendly than other companies' trains and flights. At the same time, it will also disclose the carbon footprint of each trip for passengers, and provide more vegetarian meals. Lumo is not just an old train, we're a new service with smart thinking, aiming to change the industry and revolutionize the way we travel. The British company Lumo has also launched a new all-electric passenger train on the London-Edinburgh route without an auxiliary diesel engine. Lumo also directly breaks the traditional cockpit class system, provides only one class, but the overall comfort is improved, with on-board entertainment, you can use the APP to book on-board services, scan e-tickets with cell phones, and also attach great importance to the quality of service staff.

    Book in advance
    Book in advance
Most of the railway companies throughout Europe release their tickets approximately three to six months in advance, with many offering lower prices for early bookings. If you know the dates you wish to travel, it may be possible to secure cheaper train tickets from Milan to Rome by booking in advance.
    Split Tickets
Choose a slower or connecting train
On certain busier routes, it may be possible to opt for a slower or connecting train. Although it may take slightly longer than high-speed or direct services, you could potentially secure a cheaper fare if you have some extra time to spare. Additionally, you'll have more opportunity to appreciate the scenic views of the countryside!
    Travel Off-Peak
Be open to flexibility in your travel schedule
A significant number of train services in Europe are also utilized as commuter services, and as such, many train companies raise ticket prices during "peak hours" (typically from 06:00 to 10:00 and from 15:00 to 19:00 on weekdays). If possible, try to travel outside of peak hours to secure lower-priced tickets.
    Travel Off-Peak
