London Fenchurch Street train station
Named after the nearby street, London Fenchurch Street station is a key railway terminus in the City of London. The station was opened in 1841 by the London and Blackwall Railway and was rebuilt in 1854, coinciding with the establishment of the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway. The lines built by both railways are still in use today.
While it may be small with few platforms (there are four on two islands), Fenchurch Street sees high traffic throughout the day. Around 16 million passengers use the station each year, and there are over 45,000 daily peak-time commuters. Located on Fenchurch Place, Fenchurch Street has an additional entrance on Cooper’s Row near Tower Hill. It is the only London terminal with no direct links to the London Underground, but there’s no shortage of Tube stations nearby. Cash machines, shops and a currency exchange are available in Fenchurch Street station.
