Getting from King’s Lynn to London takes around one hour and fifty-two minutes with Great Northern.
On your journey, you’ll head west and pass through the counties of Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire before entering Greater London. You’ll then ride on towards London Kings Cross in Inner London.
Great Northern operates from London Kings Cross and London Moorgate stations, serving destinations like Stevenage, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Ely, Cambridge, and King’s Lynn.
Departing from King’s Lynn
King’s Lynn Station is situated on Blackfriars Road, near the town centre and not far from Lynn Museum. The station serves as the northern terminus of the Fen Line that links Cambridge to King’s Lynn. Great Northern exclusively serves King’s Lynn Station.
The station is easily accessible from the town through local buses and taxis. If you prefer, you can also walk from the town centre.

- Cambridge.
These stops may change due to train faults, poor weather, engineering works, or scheduling alterations. So, it’s best to check before you travel to avoid disappointment.
Arriving at London Kings Cross
The train from King’s Lynn arrives at London Kings Cross, located on Euston Road in the Borough of Camden. It is the southern terminus of the East Coast Mainline, establishing it as one of the UK’s most central railway hubs. It connects the capital with the east of England, such as York and Newcastle, and the east of Scotland, like Edinburgh.
It’s a very well-connected station. It’s only a two-minute walk to St Pancras International Station, and London Euston is further up the road if you have ongoing rail connections. Kings Cross also has a London Underground Station (also named Kings Cross) that serves the Circle, Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City and Victoria lines. Taxis and bus routes are also available outside the station along Euston Road.
If you’re in the mood to go sightseeing in the capital, then you’re in luck. The British Library, The Wellcome Collection, Regent’s Park, Camden, and the British Museum are all within walking distance.
Great Northern train classes
- Standard Class: Onboard Wi-Fi is available on specific services, charging points, and tables. Snacks and drinks are available from the onboard shop which runs on certain services.
- First Class: A Great Northern King’s Lynn to London First Class ticket provides a more spacious and comfortable journey with larger seats and quieter carriages.
Great Northern train travel advice
- Luggage: A maximum of three items: An item of hand luggage (backpack, handbag, etc.) and up to two larger items, i.e. suitcases.
- Pets: Dogs, cats, and other small pets are free of charge. They must be well-behaved and do not disturb other passengers. Two pets per passenger.
- Bicycles: Foldable bikes are permitted on Great Northern services. However, there is not always space. You do not need to pre-book. Foldable bikes are not permitted on trains timed to leave London between 4pm and 7pm Monday to Friday, excluding on public holidays.
- Children: Under fives travel for free with a fare-paying adult. Children between five and fifteen can save up to 50% on most tickets with a valid Railcard. Up to four children can travel for £2 each at off-peak times. The Family & Friends Railcard offers up to 1/3 off family ticket costs.
- Passenger Assist: Offers ticket advice, boarding and alighting help, station navigation, guidance for visually impaired passengers, and transfers to connecting trains and local transport.
