Trains to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium: A Comprehensive Guide
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the home of the Premier League football club, Tottenham Hotspur, located in North London. This stadium replaced the club’s renowned White Hart Lane stadium. With a capacity of almost 63,000, it is the third-largest football stadium in England, and the largest London stadium.

Getting to the stadium is easy by train, as it is fast and convenient, and with London’s excellent railway connections, you can get to the stadium from just about anywhere in the UK.

This article will outline some key facts about Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and provide the quickest and easiest way to get there by train.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

About Tottenham Hotspur Stadium: the essentials

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is located at 782 High Road, Tottenham, North London. It’s a relatively young stadium, having only opened in 2019 after construction work began in 2015.

The stadium was initially named "Tottenham Hotspur Stadium" as a temporary measure, with the club intending to sell the naming rights to a sponsor. However, it has retained this name. Fans and some media outlets occasionally refer to it as "New White Hart Lane."

The stadium was uniquely designed to host NFL games, making it the first and only venue outside North America with dedicated NFL facilities. This includes a retractable grass pitch that reveals an artificial turf field, specifically designed for American football, allowing it to host NFL London Games each season. In fact, there are separate facilities for football and NFL players, which include separate restaurants, medical facilities, players’ lounges, and even hydrotherapy pools.

How to get to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by train?

The closest train station to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is at White Hart Lane, named after the former club’s ground. From there, it’s only a short walk to the stadium, which takes less than ten minutes. The London Overground is the sole operator from this station, which runs on the Waterloo & City Line. There are also extra services running on match days.
If you’re coming from further afield, you could go to London Liverpool Street first and then switch over to the London Overground towards White Hart Lane.
London Liverpool Street is actually the busiest train station in the UK, meaning that a host of train operators serve it. These are: Greater Anglia, C2C, Stansted Express, the Elizabeth Line, and the London Overground. Here are some popular routes to the White Hart Lane station:

1: London Liverpool Street to White Hart Lane

It takes only twenty-two minutes to get from London Liverpool Street to White Hart Lane on the London Overground.

2: Enfield Town to White Hart Lane

On average, it takes just nine minutes to get from Enfield Town to White Hart Lane on the London Overground.

3: Cheshunt to White Hart Lane

With the London Overground, it takes a mere fifteen minutes to get from Cheshunt to White Hart Lane.
4: Cambridge to London Liverpool Street
The journey from Cambridge to London Liverpool Street takes approximately one and a half hours with Greater Anglia. Once you reach London Liverpool Street, you must switch over to the London Overground to get to White Hart Lane.

What to do at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Besides football and the NFL, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could be classed as an entertainment venue by itself! It is bursting with exciting things to do. These range from classic stadium tours, where you can see behind the scenes and visit the players’ changing rooms, stand beside the pitch, the media room, and much more.

Yet, there’s also a whole assortment of other things to do. For instance, there’s the F1 Drive London, the first F1 official karting experience in the world. There’s the breathtaking Dare Skywalk where you can see some incredible views of London. If you’re still yearning for more football, then it’s also possible to book a legends tour where a former club legend will guide you around the stadium.

Travel tips for visiting Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Planning ahead can make your journey incredibly smooth and save you money, giving you peace of mind while you plan your trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

For example, booking your tickets early often means cheaper fares, as prices tend to rise closer to your intended travel date, and they might also sell out if everyone is trying to buy them all at once, which can happen if you don’t book your train tickets early enough. Beyond savings, early booking also allows you to secure your preferred seats.

If you’d like to make additional savings and aren’t fussy about when you travel or have some spare time on your hands, it might be worth considering buying Off-Peak train tickets, which are cheaper as they’re usually not in as high demand.

Conclusion

Travelling to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by train is not only convenient but also cost-effective, thanks to London's extensive rail network. This guide has equipped you with all the necessary information to plan your journey efficiently, ensuring you arrive at the stadium with ease. By taking advantage of TrainPal's services, you can secure the most affordable train tickets, allowing you to focus on enjoying the match or event without worrying about travel expenses. Whether you're a football fan, an NFL enthusiast, or simply visiting for one of the many other attractions the stadium offers, this guide ensures your travel experience is smooth and enjoyable.
