• Luggage: You can bring up to three items of luggage. There are the usual luggage spaces in each carriage - racks for large cases, overhead shelves for medium items and underseat storage for small bags.

• Bicycles: London Northwestern Trains doesn't insist on reservations for bike spaces, but they are very limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Folding bikes can be carried at any time if they're stored as luggage, but full-sized bikes can't be carried on peak-time trains.

• Children: The good news about travelling with kids is that they get a big discount on buying cheap train tickets! Under-5s go for free (but they might need to sit on your lap on busy trains) while 5- to 15-year-olds get 50% off.

• Pets: Two dogs or small domestic animals can go with you. They must be kept in a suitable carrier. The only exception is for dogs, which can be kept on a lead. Pets (and carriers) aren't allowed on the seats, and they must not inconvenience other passengers.

• Passenger Assist: You can book the assistance you need round-the-clock. While it is possible to simply turn up and request help, it's best to book in advance, either by phone or online.
