Two free city bus routes stop at Manchester Piccadilly, and the station has direct access to the Metrolink tram network.

CrossCountry, Northern, East Midlands Railway (EMR), and TransPennine Express are the main operators serving Manchester Piccadilly station. From here, you can catch trains to Oxford, Sheffield, Edinburgh and other destinations.

Arriving at Bristol Parkway

Trains stop at Bristol Parkway station. Contrary to what the name may suggest, the station is located in the village of Stoke Gifford rather than Bristol. Harry Stoke is also nearby. Several buses stop directly in front of the station, as well as cabs.

CrossCountry and Great Western Railway operate rail services from Bristol Parkway. As the busiest station in the county, frequent trains serve stations like Plymouth, Gloucester and Cardiff Central.

• Standard Class: Amenities in Standard Class include comfortable seating, luggage storage and free Wi-Fi access. Refreshments can also be purchased on most CrossCountry trains between 06:00 and 20:00. Tickets are released up to 12 weeks in advance. Book early to buy cheap train tickets.
• First Class: Opting for Manchester to Bristol Parkway First Class tickets gives you wider reclining seats with additional table space and complimentary food and drink.

CrossCountry train travel advice

• Luggage: You’re allowed to bring a small bag, a medium-sized bag and a large suitcase no bigger than 90 x 70 x 30 centimetres.
• Bicycles: We recommend booking a bike space. E-bikes must not exceed 250 watts, and e-scooters are banned.
• Children: Kids under 5 travel for free with a fare-paying adult. Most tickets are half price for 5–15-year-olds. The 16–17 Saver Railcard and Family and Friends Railcard offer discounts for older teens and groups of up to four adults and four children.
• Pets: Up to two pets are permitted on board, so long as they’re in a secure carrier or on a lead. Pets should stay off seats at all times.
