Most services stop on the station forecourt at stops T2–T5. Services include:

The station has step-free access via lifts. There are accessible toilets next to platform 3, 14 and 15. Baby changing facilities are next to platform 15. You'll also find a sheltered waiting area, refreshments, shops and free Wi-Fi. 

• Parking: There are 374 spaces, including 25 accessible bays, and prices start from £14.30 per day.
• Bikes: The long stay car park has 264 spaces and there's a further 116 spots by Queen Anne Gate on Station Approach. All are covered by CCTV. 
• Pets: If your dog needs a walk before the journey, the Bristol Floating Harbour path is about 5 minutes from the main entrance — turn left out onto Station Approach and follow the road down to the harbourside. Castle Park is around 10 minutes north-east as an alternative.

Onboard trains from Bristol Temple Meads to Southampton Central

• Best side for views: Sit on the left-hand side facing forward for the Limpley Stoke Valley between Bath Spa and Bradford-on-Avon.  Along this stretch, you'll see wooded hillsides and the Kennet & Avon Canal.
• Right-side views: On the right, you'll get views of Wiltshire farmland from Trowbridge onwards, and the Wylye Valley between Warminster and Salisbury.
• The "you're nearly there" cue: Romsey is the last stop. After that, the train crosses the River Test and runs through the city suburbs into Southampton Central.

Arriving at Southampton Central

• North exit (Blechynden Terrace): Use this for the city centre and WestQuay shopping (10–15 minutes via Western Esplanade and New Road). The Mayflower Theatre is around 12 minutes on foot, with Watts Park, SeaCity Museum, the City Art Gallery and Southampton Solent University all 10–15 minutes away.
• South exit (Western Esplanade): Use this for Southampton Cruise Port, which is 20–30 minutes on foot or 5–10 minutes by taxi.

Getting from the station by bus

Buses leave from four stops around the station. Services include:

• Routes 7, 17, 19 and 19a: to the city centre, General Hospital, Princess Anne Hospital, Thornhill and Woolston
• Route 18: to Northam, Bitterne, Solent University, St Mary's Stadium and Thornhill
• Routes U2 and U2B: to Southampton Common, the University of Southampton Avenue Campus and the Law Courts
• Route QC: to Town Quay for the Red Funnel ferry to the Isle of Wight

• Routes 4, 6, 8, 9, 11 and 12: to Totton, Redbridge, Millbrook, Hythe, Fawley and Calshot

• Route U6H: to the University of Southampton (Boldrewood and Highfield), General Hospital, Royal South Hants Hospital and Swaythling
• Route 15: to Hamble-le-Rice, Woolston and Netley Abbey
• Route SF1: to St Mary's Stadium on match days only

• Routes X4 and X5: to Park Gate, Warsash, Sholing and Lowford

This station has a sheltered waiting area, refreshments, shops, free Wi-Fi and Help Points. There's step-free access throughout and accessible toilets available by platforms 1 and 4. 

• Bikes: There's storage with partial CCTV cover for 392 bikes, including 200 by platform 1, 44 by platform 4 and a further 140 outside.
• Pets: Your dog can stretch their legs after the journey at Watts Park, which is 10–13 minutes from the north exit — turn right out of Blechynden Terrace, then follow Commercial Road and Above Bar Street to Cumberland Place.
