About Jay Harlow

Hi, my name is Jay and travel has been a huge part of my life ever since my gap year in South America when I was just 19. I caught the travel bug at this young age and then, throughout my 20s, worked as a travel consultant crafting all kinds of holiday packages and itineraries for my customers.

Over the years, I’ve visited 55 countries, including memorable trips like interrailing around Europe. I now use my travel industry experience to write insightful, useful and helpful travel guides for fellow explorers just like you.

In my free time, I love to explore my native London and the surrounding counties by train. There's so much to see and do if you venture out of the main tourist areas. For history, I recommend Eltham Palace, while for a countryside day out close to London, check out the village of Otford.

My top money-saving tip for train travel in the UK

“Railcards are a no-brainer in the UK. They're like an investment. You pay a small annual fee and quickly make it back in savings. You get a third off most fares for the year and I feel it encourages you to take days out.”
