Arriving at Edinburgh Waverley
Edinburgh Waverley is one of the most scenic stations in the UK. It still has its old-world 19th-century charms while continuing to be a convenient, quick, and modern station. Its excellent public transport connections only enhance its desirable status.
Edinburgh Waverley lies between the ‘old’ and ‘new’ towns in the middle of the city, near Waverley Gardens and the Walter Scott Monument. You can explore the city on foot from the station if you wish, as there’s plenty to do nearby, including the Scottish National Gallery, the Edinburgh Dungeon, and the Royal Mile in the ‘old’ town, or the shops, restaurants, and neoclassical architecture of the ‘new’ town. Although, if you prefer, public buses and trams on Princes Street can help you explore the city faster.
Several UK rail operators depart from this station, such as LNER, CrossCountry, Lumo, Avanti West Coast, ScotRail, Caledonian Sleeper, and TransPennine Express.
