Arriving at Eaglescliffe

Get easy access to the village and surrounding areas thanks to Grand Central’s London to Eaglescliffe train. Located on Station Road, Eaglescliffe station is surrounded by beauty, from the River Tees to the Cleveland Hills. Local buses stop by the Village Hall on Yarm Road. You can also take a cab directly in front of the station.

Regular rail services from Eaglescliffe station are operated by Grand Central, Northern and TransPennine Express. Stations served include Redcar, Durham and Hartlepool.

Eaglescliffe is home to Tetley Tea’s tea bag factory - the largest in the world. There’s plenty to see during your stay. Preston Park Museum & Grounds offers local history and fun for all the family. Kids will also love Butterfly World, a lively habitat with over 140 species. Head a little further south, and you’ll discover Yarm’s award-winning high street with independent shops and eateries along charming, cobbled paths.

• First Class: Opting for London to Eaglescliffe First Class tickets gets you additional legroom and larger reclining seats. WiFi access and power sockets are provided. You can also choose from a selection of complimentary refreshments to be delivered to your seat by scanning the QR code.

Grand Central train travel advice

• Luggage: Each passenger can bring one handbag, a small carry-on bag and one suitcase (30 x 70 x 90 centimetres max.).
• Bicycles: Two bike spaces are available for reservation (at least 24 hours in advance before your journey), and another is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Non-folding bikes must be stored vertically. While e-bikes (25 kg max.) are allowed, they can’t be charged on board.
• Children: Under-5s travel free with a fare-paying adult but won’t have a seat reservation unless you purchase a Child ticket. They cost half the adult fare and are also available for kids aged 5–15. Fold buggies before boarding, if possible. Groups of two adults and two to four children and 16–17 Saver Railcard holders can also get discounted tickets.
• Pets: Domestic pets are allowed on board. Keep animals off seats and on a lead or in a secure pet carrier.
• Passenger Assist: Request help for your journey (e.g., using ramps and wheelchair spaces, etc.) by phone, text relay or using the Passenger Assistance app up to two hours before you travel. You can also ask station staff for assistance if you haven’t pre-booked.
