Heathrow Terminal 5 station serves Terminal 5 of Heathrow Airport. It was built as part of the Heathrow Terminal 5 project, which was approved after the longest public inquiry in the UK. Heathrow Terminal 5 is National Rail’s westernmost station in London.
With the extension taking six years to complete, the station opened in 2008 to coincide with the arrival of the airport’s new terminal. Elizabeth line services have been running from Heathrow Terminal 5 since May 2022. It is the only station at Heathrow Airport with Elizabeth line, Heathrow Express and Piccadilly line services.
The ticket office at Heathrow Terminal 5 station is open 05:00–23:59 from Monday to Sunday, and has various locations throughout the station. Ticket machines are also in the station to collect or buy train tickets. Left luggage and lost property services are available. The station doesn’t have shops, refreshment facilities or WiFi hotspots.

Getting to and from Heathrow Terminal 5
Heathrow Terminal 5 station is served by bus routes 350, 423, 482, 490 and night bus N9. Connecting bus and coach services are operated by the Oxford Bus Company, First Berkshire & The Thames Valley, and National Express. The station doesn’t have parking, but a car park, drop-off area and taxi rank are located outside the terminal. Cycle parks are at either end of the terminal building, and bikes can also be stored in the airport’s left baggage office for up to 90 days.
Trains to Heathrow Terminal 5
Ditch the car and get cheap train tickets to the airport. Travelling to the airport is fast and convenient by rail. Hop on the Elizabeth line, which serves local stops, or the non-stop Heathrow Express (which first alights at Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3).
London Paddington to Heathrow Terminal 5
You won’t have to wait longer than 15 minutes for a train from Paddington to Heathrow Terminal 5. Heathrow Express take just 21 minutes, and Elizabeth line trains take about half an hour.

Travelling from Guildford to Heathrow Terminal 5 involves at least two changes, either via central London (from Waterloo to Paddington) or Reading (from Maidenhead to Hayes & Harlington). You can then change for the Elizabeth line or the Heathrow Express (Paddington only).
Birmingham to Heathrow Terminal 5
It takes about 2.5–3.5 hours to travel from either Birmingham Moor Street or Birmingham New Street to Heathrow Terminal 5. You’ll need to change trains at least twice for the Tube from Marylebone or Euston and the Elizabeth line or Heathrow Express.

Trains at Heathrow Terminal 5 station are either Heathrow Express or Elizabeth line services. The recently opened Elizabeth line serves local stations in west London and the City. Trains travel towards Shenfield or Abbey Wood. The Heathrow Express operates non-stop from Paddington to Heathrow and back every 15 minutes.

Naturally, Terminal 5 and the surrounding area are fantastic for plane spotting. An official platform is located in the Heathrow Academy, or you could head to Myrtle Avenue. For calmer destinations, take a stroll through Bedfont Lakes Country Park, Cranford Country Park, or Harmondsworth Moor. Slightly further afield trips include Windsor, where you can explore the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world - Windsor Castle. It is also home to Legoland with over 55 rides.
