CrossCountry train classes

CrossCountry offers two seating classes: Standard Class and First Class, though not all trains offer both. First Class is available on Voyager trains on the Sheffield to Birmingham route.

• Standard Class provides comfortable seating, plug sockets for charging, and table and airline-style seat layouts. Priority seats are also available for passengers requiring additional support.
• First Class on Voyager services includes larger, reclining seats, complimentary WiFi and refreshments, and individual tables. Each seat has its own table, and solo travellers can opt for a single table seat. These carriages are usually located in Coach A and are clearly marked.

CrossCountry train travel advice

For a smooth journey on CrossCountry services, here's what you should know:

• Luggage: You can bring one small bag, one cabin-size case, and one large suitcase with a maximum size of 90cm x 70cm x 30cm. Use under-seat storage for small bags, overhead racks for medium items, and end-of-coach racks for larger luggage.
• Bicycles: You must reserve a bike space online before travel. Folding bikes are allowed anytime without a reservation if they're in a protective case. Non-folding bikes and tandems are not permitted.
• Children: Kids under 5 travel free with a fare-paying adult. Ages 5 to 15 receive 50% off, and the Family & Friends Railcard offers further discounts. Baby-changing facilities and pushchair storage are available.
• Pets: Up to two pets, dogs, cats, or small animals, may travel free. They must be on a lead or in a secure carrier of max size: 85 x 60 x 60cm. Pets are not allowed on seats.
