• Station layout: The main concourse, car park and bike parking area are on the ground floor. After going through the ticket barriers, you can take the stairs or lifts to the platforms. Trains from Maidenhead to London typically pick up passengers from platform 2 or 4, though some services may differ. Double-check the departure boards and take the right staircase to your platform.
• Tea break: A trolley service isn’t provided on board, so you may want to order a beverage and a bite to eat at the station. Costa is on the lower level with indoor seating, and Puccino’s serves fresh beverages between platforms 4 and 5. You can also pick up a coffee and pastry from the independently run perk outside the main entrance - your first drink is only £2.

Arriving at London Paddington

Serving as a convenient gateway into the city, London Paddington station has excellent onward transport options.

• Praed Street exit: Use Paddington station’s main exit to take local buses or reach nearby hotels, the Alexander Fleming Museum or St Mary’s Hospital.
• Eastbourne Terrace exit: Located by platform 1, this convenient step-free exit leads to local offices and the Real Time clock art installation by Maarten Baas.
• Paddington Basin and Bishops Bridge Road exit: Take the ramp from the GWR platforms to the upper level for eastbound Circle and Hammersmith & City Tube trains, as well as bars and restaurants by the canal.
• Transport links: If you’re alighting from a GWR train, you can transfer to the Elizabeth line by platform 1. Buses stop at all station exits. The Bakerloo, Circle and District lines on the Tube network can be accessed close to platform 5 on the main concourse. A separate London Underground station on the upper level near Paddington Basin operates eastbound Circle and Hammersmith & City line services.
