Arriving at Hastings

Your London to Hastings train arrives eight minutes from the beach. Hastings station is located on Station Approach, and there are several bus routes and a taxi rank outside. Southern and Southeastern are the main operators serving Hastings. Destinations include London Charing Cross, Ashford International and Ore.

Hastings is a glorious seaside location for a day trip or longer stay. Walk through the picturesque Old Town and wander up and down the twittens - small, colourful passages and stairways linking the historic streets. Head up the East and West Hills on either side. The Cliff Railway, which runs from the fishing beach up to Hastings Country Park, offers panoramic views of the town, soft rock cliffs, and an incredible coastline. Another award-winning park is the magnificent Alexandra Park with rare trees.

• Standard Class: Free Wi-Fi is available in Standard Class carriages. Passengers can enjoy comfortable seats, and the majority of trains are fitted with power sockets at window seats. Book early to buy cheap train tickets.
• First Class: Travelling in First Class is only possible on certain routes. London to Hastings First Class travel provides a quieter environment with wider seating. 

Southern train travel advice

• Luggage: Southern has not specified its luggage allowance, but all bags must be stored in the luggage areas or overhead racks.
• Bicycles: Reservations for bike spaces aren’t required for non-folding bikes. Peak-time restrictions may apply. E-scooters, hoverboards and e-skateboards are banned.
• Children: Kids under 5 travel free. 5–15-year-olds and teens with a 16–17 Saver Railcard get most tickets half price. Zip Oyster photocards are also accepted within the London area. Up to four children with an adult can buy £2 Off-Peak tickets.
• Pets: Bring up to two pets with you. Animals must be kept off seats and on a lead or in a carrier.
• Passenger Assist: Inform Southern staff at least a day before you travel if you’ll need assistance, like moving around stations and using ramps.
