Earlsfield train station

Earlsfield is a south-west London rail station in the London Borough of Wandsworth. Named after the now-demolished Victorian residence whose land was needed to build the station, the station was opened in 1884 by the London and South Western Railway. Train lines were already passing the area in 1838, but it wasn’t until the Davis family, who owned the residence, sold the required land that Earlsfield got a place on the mainline map.

Garratt Lane, following the route of the Wandle river, was an access route between mills and farmland. The arrival of Earlsfield station saw new shops and houses emerge across these fields. It always retained a calmer village feel compared to nearby up-and-coming districts like Battersea and Wandsworth. Many still consider it to be an underrated part of London.

Earlsfield station has free WiFi, refreshments on platform 2 and seating areas. You can find cheap train tickets to this delightful part of town by booking in advance.
