"The train is by far the fastest and most reliable way into Manchester city centre – 20 minutes to Piccadilly, every 10 minutes, at a fraction of the cost of a taxi. If you’ve just landed and need something to eat before heading into the city, Terminal 2’s Great Northern Market street food hall opened in February 2026 and is well worth the 5-minute walk from the station – it’s  one of the best arrivals food options at any UK airport. One important note for 2026: Terminal 1 is currently closed. All airlines have moved to Terminal 2, except Ryanair, which uses Terminal 3. Always check your terminal before heading to the airport, as some older booking confirmations may still show Terminal 1."

"Visiting Carlisle: Many visitors don't realise that Carlisle is on the Hadrian's Wall Path - Britain's old Roman frontier that goes from coast to coast - so you can walk a stretch of it without leaving town. Start in Bitts Park and follow the acorn waymark signs along the banks of the River Eden into the leafy parkland of Rickerby Park for some of the most scenic park. Just keep in mind, though, that there are no ruins - this is a visible path where the wall once stood."
