Arriving at Portsmouth & Southsea

Southern train travel advice

• Luggage: Southern asks that passengers try to keep luggage with them, especially when leaving the train. Bags should be stowed away safely in the dedicated compartments.
• Bicycles: Non-folding bikes not allowed on trains departing London between 16:00 and 19:00, Monday to Friday. Outside these times, there is no charge for bikes and no reservations required. E-scooters are banned.
• Children: Southern offers discounts for kids, with under 5s travelling free and 5–15s travelling at half price. Up to four kids travel for a flat fare of £2 each when accompanied by an adult during off-peak times.
• Pets: Take up to two domestic pets with you. Dogs must be on a lead, unless in a pet carrier. All pets not on leads must be in a pet carrier stored on the floor. Take care when boarding with dogs to avoid falls between the platform and train.
• Passenger Assist: Southern offers assistance with buying tickets, carrying luggage, directions, getting around the station, boarding and changing trains. Can be requested on the day at Help Points or booked in advance.
