Arriving at Canterbury West

Arriving at Canterbury West railway station, you’re just a 15-minute walk away from Canterbury, a UNESCO World Heritage site and its most famous landmark, Canterbury Cathedral. Just exit the station and head down Station Road to make your way into Canterbury’s old town.

Canterbury West offers frequent services on Southeastern and Thameslink lines, with direct trains to Charing Cross, London St Pancras, Ashford International (for the Eurostar), as well as coastal Kent destinations, including Dover, Ramsgate and Margate.

Head from Canterbury West into the cathedral city, and discover the historic centre with its timber-framed buildings and cobbled streets. • Luggage: There are no limits to the luggage you can bring onboard Southeastern services, but be sure to keep it with you or in designated storage racks to avoid blocking aisles or doors.
• Bicycles: Folding bikes are permitted on all services at any time. Standard bikes and electric bikes are allowed on off-peak services, including weekends and Bank Holidays, but are not permitted on certain routes during weekday peak times. E-scooters are not permitted.
• Children: Kids under the age of 5 travel free of charge, while children aged between 5-15 are eligible for half-price ticket fares. On off-peak services, up to four children can travel with a fare-paying adult for just £1 each return. 16- and 17-year-olds can also travel half-price with a 16-17 Saver railcard.
• Pets: Passengers may travel with up to two small dogs or other small pets for free. Animals must be kept on a lead or transported in a secure carrier and kept off the seats.
• Passenger Assist: Passengers requiring extra help with boarding, navigating stations, or carrying luggage can book assistance in advance while purchasing their ticket or ask on the day at larger, staffed stations.
