Lewes to Seaford Trains From €4.60*

Southern is the sole operator on the Lewes to Seaford route and runs a Standard Class-only train. Here's an overview of the onboard experience:

Yes, Southern lets you take bikes on its Lewes to Seaford services for free without a reservation — space is limited though and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. On weekends during the summer months, staff may not allow bikes onboard if the trains are busy, so be sure to keep this in mind when planning your trip.

Are pets allowed on trains from London Victoria to Seaford?

Yes, you can travel with up to two dogs, cats or small domestic animals for free on Southern trains. Dogs need to be on a lead at all times, though, including on platforms and when boarding. As for other pets, they need to be in a container no bigger than 85 × 60 × 60 cm. Neither dogs nor small animals can take up seats. 

Trains from Lewes to Seaford depart from Platform 3, with services starting at 06:00 on Saturdays and at 07:33 on Sundays. There are then departures roughly every 30 minutes throughout the day until midnight on Saturdays and 23:06 on Sundays. 

Timetables during the week are similar to those of Saturdays, while bank holidays usually follow a Sunday schedule.

Departing from Lewes

• By foot: You can easily walk from the centre of town. It's around a 0.2 mile-walk from the traffic lights on the High Street (where Fisher Street meets Station Street). From Lewes Castle, it's also around 5 minutes by foot — head down St Martin's Lane, turn left onto Southover Road and then right at Station Roads.

• By bus: The following routes connect nearby towns and villages to Lewes Station — the buses stop right outside:

Note: in summer, Wilmington is also served by the Cuckmere Ramblerbus (Route 47) direct to Seaford on weekends and Bank Holidays.

• Parking: The car park is adjacent to the station and accessible via Pimwell Road, which is a left turn off Station Road if you're coming from the High Street. There are 293 spaces, including 6 accessible bays and EV charging points. 
• Bikes: The car park has a CCTV-monitored cycle hub with 263 spaces for bikes. You'll need to request a key from station staff to access. 
• Facilities: There's a cafe, sheltered waiting area and ticket office (open 06:30—20:20 on Saturdays and 07:15—19:15 on Sundays). Staff are available everyday from the first to last train.  

Onboard trains from Lewes to Seaford

It's a short 19-minute train journey from Lewes to Seaford, with just 3 stops on the way: Southease, Newhaven Town and Bishopstone. The total rail distance travelled is just under 9 miles.

• Best side for views: Sit on the right of the train for views of the Ouse Valley and South Downs.
• The "you're nearly there" cue: You'll see the chalk cliffs of Seaford Head on the horizon and the pebble-stone beach of Seaford.

Arriving at Seaford

• Seaford Bay and the Esplanade: Turn right out of the station onto Station Approach, then go left down Dane Road until you reach the Esplanade. It's a mostly flat walk to the seafront and takes around 10 minutes.
• Broad Street and the shops: Turn right out of the station and carry on down Station Road and Church Street for 5–7 minutes until you hit the High Street.
• Seven Sisters Country Park: Take the 12, 12A or seasonal 13X+ Coaster bus from the bus stop right outside the station. The journey takes around an hour each way.

• Accessibility: As a Category A station, there's step-free access throughout. That said, getting on and off the train requires a staff-operated ramp, so it's a good idea to book Passenger Assistance.
• Toilets: There's an accessible toilet on the platform, which you'll need a RADAR key to use. 
• Amenities: Refreshments are available. Aside from this, amenities are limited as it's a small station and there's no Wi-Fi.
