• The Platform Tip: Avanti West Coast services to London Euston typically depart from Platform 5, but allocations are liable to change, so do check the departure boards on the main concourse before crossing the footbridge. For passengers with luggage or accessibility needs, there are lifts connecting to all platforms.
• Pre-Departure: The Victorian platform buildings are well stocked with places to eat and drink before boarding, with everything from a quick coffee to a proper sit-down meal. The main entrance on Nantwich Road has a ticket office and a bookshop, and the concourse has seating and waiting areas throughout.
• Local Connections: Buses leave from Nantwich Road stops just outside the main entrance. Service 103 runs frequently to Hanley in Stoke-on-Trent, service 85 goes to Newcastle-under-Lyme, and service 38 links to Macclesfield.

Once on board, the journey south follows the West Coast Main Line through the Cheshire and Staffordshire countryside before flattening out on the long run through the English Midlands into the capital.

• The View Alert: Sit on the right-hand side heading south for the best views along the route. After Stafford, you’ll see the countryside open out, and on the final approach into London, you’ll also get the clearest views of Wembley Stadium's distinctive arch.
• Key Landmarks: As the train passes through the Milton Keynes area, look out for the famous Concrete Cows, a public art installation in a field beside the railway that has become one of the most unexpected sights on any British intercity route. 

Arriving at London Euston

The southern terminus of the West Coast Main Line, London Euston, sits on Euston Road in the heart of central London and is well placed for the Underground and central London as a whole. The platforms lead up to a large, well-signed concourse with departure boards, shops and information points, making it easy to find your onward connection.

• The Euston Road Exit: The main exit opens directly onto Euston Road, where taxis and buses are available. Euston Underground station, serving the Northern and Victoria lines, is directly beneath the concourse for fast connections across central London.
• The Euston Square Exit: A short walk east along Euston Road brings you to Euston Square station, where the Circle, Hammersmith and City, and Metropolitan lines extend across central and west London.
• Onward Travel: Taxis queue outside the main entrance on Euston Road, with buses running frequently along the same road. Bloomsbury, the British Library and Regent's Park are all within a short walk of the station.
