York Train Station

York Train Station is one of the UK’s most beautiful and iconic stations. With its distinctive curved train shed and grandiose architecture designed to be expansive and regal from the start, it's a brilliant station for any journey. Furthermore, York station is the busiest railway station in North Yorkshire, alongside the third busiest in Yorkshire & Humberside.

When the station opened in 1877, it was the largest train station in the world and even included a gorgeous hotel, now known as The Principal York. Like the city, York Train Station has a long and distinguished history. It was even extensively bombed in the Second World War. The station is just outside the city centre near York’s historic medieval city walls.
