Tottenham Hale train station
Tottenham Hale is an interchange station in north London. The station opened in 1840 as Tottenham and has seen many transformations (and name changes) over more than 180 years. The area was once a leisure hotspot for the rich - even Henry VIII hunted in Tottenham Woods. Until 1868, Tottenham Hale was the final train stop for cattle shepherded from East Anglia. The animals were then driven four miles into the city. “Hale” was added to the station name in 1875 and removed in 1938 before being added back in 1968. In 1882, Tottenham Hale began providing connections between London and the coalfields in the north as part of a key rail freight artery.
The modern station features a new building and an additional platform. Tottenham Hale now has direct links to Stansted Airport, King’s Lynn, London Liverpool Street and Cambridge. Free WiFi and refreshment facilities are available. Ticket machines can be used to purchase or collect fares when you book train tickets online. A ticket office is also open for most of the day.
Whether you’re heading to the stadium, airport, suburbs or the city, rail travel is simple. Check real-time train timetables here.
