Putney train station

Located in the London Borough of Wandsworth in south-west London, Putney train station provides mainline services to destinations such as Teddington, Hounslow, Wimbledon and Windsor. Putney has loads of history - even dating back to the Neolithic and pre-Roman times. It was the birthplace of Henry VIII’s principal adviser Thomas Cromwell, who spent his childhood down the road from Putney station at Brewhouse Lane.

Like many towns and villages that were once outside the city, the arrival of a railway transformed the local area. Putney’s expansion accelerated when the station was completed in 1846, around the end of the Industrial Revolution. The station made up part of the Nine Elms to Richmond line. With the then-village soon seeing small villas and cottages built, Putney was eventually rebuilt to accommodate four tracks in the mid-1880s.

Today’s station has free WiFi, a cash machine and machines to buy train tickets. Ticket offices are near the station entrances on platform 1 and in the station hall. Check real-time train timetables for your trip and plan ahead.
